Who is Chemistry?

Chemistry Executive Search is a boutique firm that specializes in senior-level recruitments in media, entertainment and technology. Our emphasis is on digital media and, increasingly, on the rapidly growing field of data analytics. With 25 years of search experience in this space, we offer access to the best talent.

Our name, "Chemistry", reflects the importance we place on identifying the right candidates who will fit within your corporate culture. Finding candidates with the appropriate technical skills is relatively easy, given our experience. We pride ourselves on understanding your organization and recommending candidates who will succeed in it. With respect to recruiting, we listen carefully to your problems and apply the knowledge, skill and effort to solve them.

Rick Linde

Rick-new.jpgRick launched Chemistry in the fall of 2010. He leads the firm and manages client relationships, recruiting executives to lead digital businesses. He is also one of the few recruiters who has a depth of experience in the rapidly growing field of data analytics and has made it his business to know the key players in this sector. Most of his clients are established media / technology / entertainment companies and agencies, including Disney, Meredith, Scripps Networks, Publicis, and many more. Private Equity firms also make use of Rick's talents in recruiting key executives for their portfolio companies. Rick remains highly involved in every search that Chemistry undertakes.

Before starting his own firm, Rick led the Media Practice at Battalia Winston, a national search firm, and established it during sixteen years as one of the preeminent competitors in the industry. His recruiting experience spans virtually all functional areas.

Rick grew up in Ohio and is an honors graduate of Tufts University. After earning an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, he worked in marketing for Pepsi-Cola before embarking on a career in executive search at Russell Reynolds Associates. He was named one of America's top executive recruiters in The Career Makers, a nationally recognized book based on a nationwide survey of clients and peers in the industry.

Rick lives in Harlem with his wife and daughter and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Harlem Wellness Center. He has run three marathons and has been a bicycle commuter for nearly 25 years. Devoted travelers, Rick and his family went hiking in Northern Italy this summer and last summer they ventured through the back country of Iceland.

Rick is very proud to announce the publication of his book, The Hiring Handbook, which provides hiring managers with all the information to find and hire the best talent. Available on Amazon and (at least some) fine bookstores, The Hiring Handbook is a useful reference book to be consulted when conducting a recruitment. Much of it is the distilled knowledge of 25 years of search experience, all the things that you should know to avoid prolonging a search or, even worse, making the wrong hire.

Boo Close

Boo-new.jpgBoo graduated with a BA from Rutgers University and worked for 10 years in fashion and design with Laura Ashley. While freelancing in design, she transitioned to the world of Executive Search and returned to work full-time to join Chemistry at its inception in late 2010.

Boo Close is the best executive assistant in the entire country. Nothing hits the ground if Boo is on it. She handles all the logistical and administrative aspects of Chemistry with ease from her home office in coastal Maine. Boo is married and has two sons in college. And no, she won’t tell you her real name (hint: it starts with M).
